Engineering planning checklist

HVAC Airflow, Duct & Fan Sizing Check

Move from room air-change requirements to equivalent duct size, fan power, and a sensible cooling-load screen for industrial HVAC planning.

Use as a checklist, not an automated design workflow. Complete and verify each calculation independently. Only explicit carry-forward links move a compatible value; all other inputs remain your responsibility.

What this workflow covers

Move from room air-change requirements to equivalent duct size, fan power, and a sensible cooling-load screen for industrial HVAC planning.

This 4-step checklist is intended for hvac engineer. Confirm each linked calculator's units, formula, assumptions and operating limits before using the result in a project decision.

Sequence Execution
1

Factory Air Exchange & Ventilation

Scope-limited calculation

Calculate required ventilation airflow (CFM or mΒ³/hr) based on building volume and required Air Changes per Hour (ACH).

WORKFLOW INSTRUCTION:Estimate required room airflow from measured volume and the selected air-change target; validate contaminant and heat-removal criteria separately.
2

Duct Diameter from Airflow & Velocity

Scope-limited calculation

Estimate circular duct diameter and cross-sectional area from airflow and a target air velocity.

WORKFLOW INSTRUCTION:Convert the airflow duty and target velocity into an equivalent circular duct diameter and area.
3

Fan Power from Airflow & Static Pressure

Scope-limited calculation

Estimate fan shaft input power from airflow, static pressure, and fan efficiency.

WORKFLOW INSTRUCTION:Estimate fan input power from airflow, total static pressure, and fan/drive efficiency at the intended duty point.
4

Airflow Sensible Cooling Load

Scope-limited calculation

Estimate sensible cooling capacity from air volume flow, air density, specific heat, and temperature difference.

WORKFLOW INSTRUCTION:Screen sensible cooling capacity from air mass flow and dry-bulb temperature difference; add latent and envelope loads before equipment selection.
